Train number 2155 …..Kanpur Central to New Delhi has been scheduled to arrive 2 hour late by its time… The inconvenience caused is deeply regretted.
Megha check her watch after hearing the announcement and rested her back on the steel chairs of Indian railway. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes trying to visualize her last few days. Is it really hard to sum up her life till date? She knows that answer is negative and her story is very simple to sum up in few sentences.
She is pregnant and neither her boyfriend nor her family is ready to accept the fact. She has no complaint with her parents after-all they are just another Indian parents who are more responsible to their society than their own child, and this time she has committed the most forbidden sin of society. But she never thought in even her weirdest dream that Aryan accused her of having bad character and denied of getting married. Both of them have a single solution for her child -ABORTION. Her parents have given the final verdict “You are going to your aunt’s place by next train, we will abort this child there and sooner will get marry you somewhere before any one come to know about this.”
A simple filmy story so far but Megha knew that her life is not so predictable after this decision. Megha again checked her watch, another one and half hour more.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Human emotions are very strange when the strings are attached the social guidelines of right and wrong get demised. The rules of morality are also relative after-all everything is relative. To lie is a sin but it is an art for a lawyer, to kill a goat is cruelty but it is a daily bread for a butcher so things change from perspectives. To take a life is always a sin in every religion but to take a life of unborn child sent by ALMIGHTY is justified just because someone has cheated her emotions, not fulfilled his promise.
From Megha’s perspective Aryan has not only ditched her but ditched her self confidence, her pride, and her respect for her decisions. Shall ever in her life she will able to trust on any man and his love…perhaps no. Then why should she punish her child and herself for a cheater? Megha who once known for her confidence and never give up attitude is now feeling shattered. Even in 21st century, is girls really need a marriage after such an emotional break-down to live their life? Some more questions are haunting Megha…..
Is abortion is a magical surgery which mill make her again un-pregnant turning the clock back. Is this magical surgery going to remove her dreams about this child, dreams which she saw with Aryan? Is this surgery going to return her confidence and self respect? She can’t murder someone, she is not going to murder her own part and let the dreams haunt her whole life.
She is not going to abort her child, she was also a part of this decision not only Aryan and no more she is going to regret for her decision. Only women can bring a life on this earth and she will not take a life; she is also a women. This child is the only hope that ever in her life she will regain some respect for herself.
Megha left her house leaving a letter on the table in the darkness of night. She talked her friend Meeta about this and she is going to give her job of a teacher in her school. She will give birth to her decision.
Train number 2155 …..Kanpur Central to New Delhi is standing on platform number two……………..
FEW MONTHS LATER
“Congrats mam, you are a proud mother of a girl now” the nurse said while giving a look of child to her.
“Can I touch her…” Megha voice is choked due to different emotions rising in her body.
While kissing her own baby’s forehead two different emotions are coming in same time. She was happy because she has bring life to her decision and she was sad because a long fight is ahead to give a recognition to her decision. First time in life, She was sad and happy both at one time.
An Indian women life is always a mix of pain and smile. She smiles so that she can hide her pain. But this moment is Megha’s sweetest pain.

I never support such love without marriage. But the feelings you expressed are really true. And unfortunately society never think in the point of view of a woman and most of the time woman is enemy of woman. The feelings related to abortion...i think it's a big social issue..even married women are forced to do this...just coz the husband don't want a daughter. This is a big issue. And many people who are recognized in the society are murderers of innocent unborn child. Well - written...you tried to express a gal's emotions...really nice one.
thnks mohini, it's really hard to write from a girls perspective.the point whether dat love is justified or not may be cause another debate but here i just want to picture a woman's emotion for her child after betrayal. hope i have come something closer in attempt
whole naration is really touchin but these line - "..Indian parents who are more responsible to their society than their own child.." and "The rules of morality are also relative after.." made me to stop reading and think for a while...i must say u have the cutting edge...
